EAT & Speak God’s Word
1 He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find here. Eat this scroll, then go and speak to the house of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and he fed me the scroll. 3 “Son of man,” he said to me, “feed your stomach and fill your belly with this scroll I am giving you.” So I ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. Ezekiel 3:1-3 (CSB)
E = Examine
A = Abide
T = Taste
Examine: the passage, God, and yourself. What stands out? [“…eat what you find here…”]
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)
Abide: be with God. Engage with Him. Receive from Him. Pray. [“…He fed me the scroll…”]
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the
vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches.
Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:4-5 (ESV)
Taste: the glory, goodness, and grace of God. [“…it was as sweet as honey on my mouth…”]
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Psalm 34:8 (NLT)
Speak: Share your experience with others. [“…eat this scroll, then go and speak…”]
17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ. Romans 10:17 (CSB)
